Two men are set to appear in court after an incident in Lake Macquarie that led to their arrest. The events unfolded when police attempted to stop an SUV in the Windale area. The driver refused to comply, prompting a pursuit.
As the chase ensued, police tried to use road spikes to stop the vehicle, but the driver managed to evade them. The pursuit eventually came to a halt at Kalaroo Road in Redhead when the SUV broke through vehicle bollards and entered the Fernleigh Walking Track.
Law enforcement officers then conducted a search of the area and apprehended the two suspects, aged 26 and 28, after a foot chase along a nearby fire trail. A search of the younger man’s belongings yielded illicit items, including methamphetamine, cash, a knife, and tablets.
Following their arrest, both individuals were taken to Belmont Police Station for questioning. Subsequent investigations led to the older man being charged with offenses related to dangerous driving and driving while disqualified.
The younger man faced charges including drug supply, possession of restricted substances, possession of a weapon without a permit, possession of suspected stolen goods, and possession of housebreaking tools. Both suspects were denied bail and were scheduled to appear before Parramatta Local Court.
