In a heartwarming display of community spirit, Lake Macquarie Mayor, Adam Shultz, has kicked off the annual Mayor’s Christmas Appeal to rally support for families in need within the region. Partnering with the local charity Samaritans, this initiative aims to bring joy to hundreds of households during the holiday season.
Commencing on November 28 and continuing through December 13, residents are encouraged to contribute to this noble cause by dropping off donations at various Lake Mac Libraries branches. The suggested items for donation encompass a range of essentials and treats, including toiletries, jewelry, toys, and clothing items like socks and sun hats.
Specifically tailored for children, the appeal suggests gifts such as beach towels, sports equipment, and popular toys like Barbie dolls and board games. These donations will ensure that underprivileged families in Lake Macquarie have the opportunity to experience the warmth and happiness of Christmas morning.
Samaritans, the charitable organization behind this effort, operates over 100 programs across the Hunter Region and New South Wales, extending critical support in areas like disability care, youth services, and mental health assistance. By participating in the Mayor’s Christmas Appeal, the community can directly impact the lives of those facing challenges, spreading goodwill and festive cheer throughout Lake Macquarie.
