With construction well underway, the ambitious project led by Managing Director Tony Palmer is set to transform the landscape with its cutting-edge international-standard track.
Excitement is in the air as the 5.4km track’s design and engineering have been meticulously planned, paving the way for the construction phase to kick into high gear in the coming months. Anticipation is building as the project aims to unveil Stage One by June 2026, featuring not only the track but also go karts, a skid pan, pit lane area, café, and the initial phase of the Black Rock Village and members’ lodge.
Lake Macquarie Deputy Mayor Jack Antcliff commended the $95 million investment in the Black Rock Motor Resort, emphasizing its significance in repurposing former mine sites innovatively. This venture not only promises an adrenaline-pumping experience for motorsport enthusiasts but also foresees a boost in employment opportunities and economic growth as visitors flock from far and wide to indulge in the racing extravaganza.
During a recent site visit, Tony Palmer revealed a groundbreaking sponsorship with two-time Dakar Rally champion Toby Price, who is set to take on a new challenge with Black Rock branding in the 2025 rally. This collaboration symbolizes the shared spirit of pushing boundaries and achieving the impossible.
Moreover, a partnership with construction materials giant Boral ensures that the project will be executed with top-notch quality and sustainability in mind, utilizing low-carbon concrete and recycled materials for the track’s foundation.
As construction progresses, plans for hotel and cabin accommodations are in the pipeline, with the entire resort expected to be fully operational by June 2027, solidifying its status as a premier destination for motorsport enthusiasts and thrill-seekers alike in Lake Macquarie.
