Museum of Art and Culture Lake Macquarie Workshop Inspires Young Artists

The Museum of Art and Culture Lake Macquarie, located at the picturesque edge of Lake Macquarie, is set to host an engaging and creative school holiday workshop. The workshop, tailored for children aged 7 to 14, aims to blend art and music in a unique way.

Inspired by the renowned exhibition of Trevor Weekes: Opus, participants will delve into the intricate relationship between art and sound. Trevor Weekes, with his profound experience spanning over fifty years, has masterfully intertwined music and visual art. The Opus exhibition showcases a mesmerizing collection of musical instruments transformed into a grand sculptural masterpiece, emphasizing the profound connection between auditory and visual senses.

During the workshop, a Museum Educator will guide young artists through a hands-on session where they will craft their own musical sculptures using materials inspired by musical instruments. This immersive experience is designed to spark their creativity and imagination, showing how art and music can harmoniously merge to create something truly extraordinary.

The workshop is scheduled for Wednesday, 16 April 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the Museum of Art and Culture Lake Macquarie. Participants are encouraged to bring along their imagination, as all materials will be provided. Due to limited spots, early booking is advised to secure a place in this exciting and enriching school holiday activity.

The Museum of Art and Culture, fondly known as MAC, yapang, offers ramp access for wheelchairs and prams, baby changing facilities, and accessible toilets. Conveniently located at the end of First Street in Booragul, MAC, yapang is easily accessible via various means of transport, including the lake foreshore cycleway and public transport. Onsite parking is available for cars, as well as accessible spaces for buses.
