Lake Macquarie Sparkles with Fireworks at Festival Extravaganza

In a dazzling display of lights and colors, Lake Macquarie is set to be the focal point of a spectacular festival that will span over four months from January to April 2025. The Lake Mac Festival, a much-anticipated event, promises to be bigger and better than ever before.

Mayor Adam Shultz of Lake Macquarie expressed his excitement for the festival, highlighting the Australia Day Long weekend as a key feature where the lake will be illuminated by mesmerizing fireworks. Spectators can witness the enchanting display from prime locations at Belmont, Toronto, and Warners Bay foreshore.

The festivities will not end there, as Morisset will also be hosting fireworks on both Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 January as part of the Aussie Night Market held at Morisset Showground. Alongside the fireworks, attendees can look forward to a range of events such as Music in the Podium, the Windsurfer National Championships, a Super Family Fun Day, and the Valentines Lion Club Community Day.

Mayor Shultz emphasized that the extended duration of the festival not only benefits local businesses economically but also provides ample opportunities for friends, travelers, and families to connect and revel in the diverse offerings across the city. From music performances to sailing competitions, live entertainment, and outdoor activities, there is something to cater to every taste and preference.

Jacqui Hemsley, the Council’s Manager for Arts, Culture, and Tourism, revealed that approximately 80 events are scheduled for the festival, with major highlights including the Windsurfer National Championships, Boatfest, and Lookout Festival. Notably, the Lookout Festival will feature a lineup of iconic Australian rock bands like Jet, Grinspoon, The Veronicas, and more at Speers Point Park on Saturday 8 March.

The Windsurfer National Championships, taking place from 22 to 26 January at the Toronto Amateur Sailing Club, will add a new dimension to the festival’s activities. Boatfest, slated for Sunday 16 February at Rathmines Park, will offer a variety of attractions including boat displays and sales.

The festival will also see the return of the One Act Play Festival at Warners Bay Theatre on Saturday 5 April, showcasing engaging short plays from local talents.
