Lake Macquarie City Council has set forth a comprehensive plan that outlines its vision for the next decade, encompassing economic, environmental, social, and governance objectives. The recently approved Community Strategic Plan 2025-2035 reflects extensive community input, with over 32,000 residents actively engaging in shaping the city’s future direction.
Mayor Adam Shultz emphasized the plan’s focus on key themes such as transport infrastructure, walking and cycling amenities, local roads, and environmental preservation. The plan aims to address the needs and aspirations of Lake Macquarie’s diverse population, including residents, workers, and tourists, guiding the city’s development over the next decade.
The CSP, reviewed at the onset of each new Council term, serves as a foundational document shaping subsequent strategies like the Delivery Program and Operational Plan. It envisions Lake Macquarie as a city that prioritizes environmental sustainability, fosters a robust economy, promotes community well-being, and operates with transparency and integrity.
Mayor Adam highlighted the importance of collaboration with external partners, including the private sector and government entities, to realize the city’s long-term goals. Advocacy efforts towards State and Federal Governments for improved public transport and infrastructure development will be central to Lake Macquarie’s growth trajectory.
Effective from 1 July, the new CSP can be accessed on the official Lake Macquarie City Council website, underlining the city’s commitment to inclusive and sustainable development strategies. By aligning with the community’s aspirations and engaging in strategic partnerships, Lake Macquarie aims to create a vibrant and resilient urban environment for its residents and visitors.
