The project, a joint effort funded by the NSW Government and Port Macquarie Hastings Council, has infused $750,000 and $450,000 respectively into the development. Minister for Regional NSW, Tara Moriarty, expressed her excitement about the newly accessible destination, emphasizing the significance of making tourist attractions open to everyone. The upgrades at Tacking Point Lighthouse feature a range of enhancements, including a reinforced walkway, handicapped parking, whale watching lookouts, and artistic installations by local artists. Member for Port Macquarie, Leslie Williams, shared historical insights about Tacking Point, tracing its origins back to early explorer Matthew Flinders in 1802.
