The Teralba Reserve, nestled in the heart of Lake Macquarie, is a place of tranquility and community spirit. Managed by the Lake Macquarie City Council, this 6100m² parcel of land at 66 Pitt St, Teralba, holds within its boundaries the Teralba Cemetery and a charming pocket park with a playground.
In line with the requirements of the Local Government Act 1993, a comprehensive Plan of Management (PoM) has been meticulously crafted for the Teralba Reserve. This PoM serves as a guide, outlining the land’s values, suitable uses, and setting forth objectives and actions to safeguard these values for present and future generations.
The draft Teralba Reserve PoM is a testament to the diverse range of values attributed to this special place, including its rich heritage, recreational opportunities, biodiversity conservation, and essential infrastructure provisions. It lays out a series of management actions aimed at preserving the cultural essence of the cemetery, enhancing public accessibility, and maintaining the park and playground for the local community’s enjoyment.
Developed in accordance with the Local Government Act and in harmony with the Teralba Cemetery Conservation Strategy 2019, this draft PoM is now open for public review until 31 January 2025. Residents and stakeholders are encouraged to delve into the details of the PoM and provide their valuable feedback through written submissions.
Hard copies of the draft Teralba Reserve PoM are available for viewing at Speers Point Library and Toronto Library, inviting all interested parties to engage with the future management of this cherished community space.
As the draft Teralba Reserve Plan of Management progresses towards consideration by the Council’s Standing Committee on 10 March 2025, the spotlight remains on preserving the essence and vitality of Teralba Reserve, a precious gem within the picturesque surroundings of Lake Macquarie.
