As the holiday season approaches, Lake Macquarie is gearing up for a magical evening at Speers Point Park with the much-anticipated Lake Mac Carols event. The park is set to transform into a winter wonderland, welcoming families and friends to join in the festive celebrations.
Scheduled for Sunday, the event promises a lineup of enchanting performances and activities to spread joy and cheer. Attendees can look forward to the arrival of Santa Claus, accompanied by Mrs. Claus and a team of merry elves. The air will be filled with the melodious tunes of both modern and traditional carols, performed by a talented array of musicians and singers.
Starting at 3pm, the festivities kick off with exciting activities such as a special Newcastle Jets activation and the Domaine Homes Kids Corner. Children can enjoy a fun-filled kids’ disco at 5pm with Ruby the Clown, while food trucks will be serving up delicious treats throughout the evening.
The main stage program, running from 6pm to 9pm, will feature captivating performances by various groups including the St Paul’s Catholic College Aboriginal Dance Troupe, The Tribe Collective, and Chance 2 Dance. The carol singing segment will showcase artists like Bree Young, Thomas James, Steph Russell, Komiti Levai, the Pacific Harmony Choir, and The Vanguard Players.
Jacqui Hemsley, Lake Macquarie City Council’s Manager of Arts, Culture, and Tourism, expressed her excitement for the return of the beloved Lake Mac Carols event. She invited families to bring their picnic rugs, sing along to the carols, and partake in the family-friendly festivities.
In addition to the Lake Mac Carols, a series of yuletide events are planned across Lake Macquarie, including carol evenings at various locations and Christmas markets at Pelican, Wyee, Blacksmiths, Toronto, Warners Bay, Redhead, and Speers Point. The Multi-Arts Pavilion, mima, will also be hosting a modern twist on The Nutcracker, titled The Nutcracker Remixed, featuring contemporary Christmas songs and chipmunks as narrators.
