ANZAC Day, a significant day of remembrance in Australia, is commemorated with services and marches throughout Lake Macquarie City. On the 25th of April 2025, various locations in Lake Macquarie will host events to honor the heroes who have served the nation.
In Belmont, a march will commence at 9:45 am from High Street, leading to a service at Cullen Park at 10 am. Similarly, Cardiff will witness a dawn march at 5 am from Macquarie Road and Main Road, followed by a service at Cardiff RSL. Catherine Hill Bay will hold a dawn service at 6 am at the Cenotaph, while Charlestown will host a service at 11 am at Charlestown Lions Park, including a short march for children.
Dora Creek’s schedule includes a dawn service at 6 am at Neville Thompson Oval, followed by a Gunfire Breakfast at Dora Creek Workers Club. A march will start at 9 am from Gradwells Road, leading to a service at 9:40 am at Neville Thompson Oval. Dudley will see a march at 5:45 am from Banfield Lane, followed by a service at the War Memorial.
Pelican’s program involves a march at 5:50 am from Piriwal Street to RSL Memorial Park for a 6 am service. Rathmines will have a march at 12:45 pm from Rathmines Bowling Club, followed by a service at Catalina War Memorial and a flyover at 1 pm. Redhead’s service will commence at 11 am at the War Memorial on Cowlishaw Street.
Speers Point will feature a 6 am march from Speers Point Park, followed by a dawn service. Swansea will start the day with a 6 am dawn service at Swansea RSL Memorial Cenotaph, with a later march at 11 am from Pacific Highway Swansea Roundabout Northbound. Toronto will hold a dawn service at 6 am at Goffet Park, followed by a march at 10:50 am from The Boulevarde. Valentine will see a march at 10 am from Allambee Park, followed by a service.
Wangi Wangi’s schedule includes a dawn service at 5:30 am at the Cenotaph at Wangi Wangi RSL, followed by a Gunfire Breakfast at 6:30 am. A march will form at 9:30 am on Kent Place, with a procession along Puna Road and Dobell Drive at 10 am, leading to the main service. West Wallsend will have a march at 9:45 am from Withers and Carrington Streets, followed by a service at Soldiers Park Memorial on Carrington Street.
Road closures and traffic changes will be implemented in various locations to accommodate these events. The community is encouraged to participate in these services to honor and remember the sacrifices made by past heroes.
