Lake Macquarie City Council is conducting traffic surveys in Morisset and its surrounding areas from June 10 to June 18, 2025. The purpose of these surveys is to gather data that will aid in future planning initiatives. Contractors have been enlisted to carry out the surveys, which involve installing tube traffic counters and cameras at various locations in Morisset town centre, Mandalong, Cooranbong, and Bonnells Bay. These efforts will provide valuable insights into traffic and pedestrian movements for Council and Transport for NSW.
The survey work will commence on June 10 with the installation of equipment, weather permitting. Cameras will be operational for one day, while tube traffic counters will be in place for one week. All survey equipment will be removed by June 18, also weather permitting. The project area for the traffic counts is outlined on a map provided by the Council.
Residents in the vicinity need not worry about disruptions to their properties during the survey period. Workers will be easily identifiable in high-visibility attire and will use lighting as needed for their tasks. Parking along the curb will be utilized for the installation and removal of cameras, a process that should not exceed 15 minutes. While the tube counters may generate some noise, the Council aims to complete the investigations efficiently to minimize any inconvenience to the community. Driveway access will be maintained throughout the survey period, and residents are encouraged to exercise patience and understanding during this essential data collection.
For any inquiries regarding the survey works, individuals can reach out to Karin Coon at (02) 4921 0797 or via email at [email protected]. The Council is committed to ensuring that the survey activities are carried out smoothly and with minimal impact on the residents of Morisset and its environs.
