Infrastructure upgrades at Lake McConaughy have been significant, with campgrounds like Little Thunder, Lone Eagle, and Cedar View receiving new utilities, restrooms, picnic facilities, and tree plantings. The addition of modern amenities, such as full-service campsites with electricity, water, and sewer hookups, has enhanced the overall camping experience. Moreover, improvements to beach access points and the installation of new shower facilities have further elevated visitors’ enjoyment.
At Lake Ogallala, developments have included upgrades to the East Campground, angler access improvements, and the installation of new boat docks with accessible kayak and canoe launches. These enhancements aim to provide visitors with a more comfortable and enjoyable stay while promoting outdoor activities like fishing and boating.
Future plans for both Lake McConaughy and Lake Ogallala involve additional improvements, such as enhanced boat ramps, new campgrounds, parking areas, gate houses, showers, and restrooms. These ongoing efforts underscore the commitment to preserving Nebraska’s natural beauty and providing top-notch recreational opportunities for current and future generations.
