Lake Macquarie City Council has recently announced its support for the Morisset Show by agreeing to sponsor the event for the next four years. This decision, spearheaded by Mayor Adam Shultz, involves an annual contribution of $10,000 to ensure the sustainability and growth of the Morisset Lake Macquarie Agricultural Show.
Mayor Shultz emphasized the significant role the Morisset Show plays in the southern Lake Macquarie community, fostering local engagement and unity for over seven decades. He expressed confidence that the funding would help solidify the event’s position as a beloved fixture on the city’s social calendar.
Highlighting the evolving nature of the Morisset Show, Mayor Shultz revealed that this year’s event, scheduled for 18-19 October, would be a key component of the 2025 Lake Macquarie Action Fest. This festival, previously known as Fast and Loud, will feature a diverse range of activities, including the Australian Offshore Powerboat Club racing, the Australian Formula Powerboats Grand Prix, NSW Personal Watercraft Club jetski racing, and the Let’s Surf Lake Mac contest at Redhead Beach.
Anticipating an exciting weekend that spans the city, Mayor Shultz expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming festivities. Justin Rumore, President of the Morisset Lake Macquarie Show, welcomed the council’s sponsorship, noting its potential to enhance and expand the event’s offerings.
Rumore emphasized the show’s longstanding tradition of providing an educational and entertaining experience for the Morisset and Lake Mac community. He underscored the event’s role in uniting families and showcasing the region’s unique offerings, effectively bridging the gap between rural and urban lifestyles.
In 2024, the Council contributed $10,000 to the Morisset Show during its 70th anniversary celebrations. Kirrily Anderson, Coordinator of Lifelong Learning and Engagement, highlighted the significance of the four-year sponsorship agreement in providing financial stability for event organizers.
Anderson noted that the Council allocates up to $200,000 annually to sponsor various events and activities across the city, emphasizing the importance of grassroots support and community activation. This commitment reflects the Council’s dedication to fostering local engagement and enriching the cultural tapestry of Lake Macquarie.
As the Morisset Show prepares to embark on its next chapter with the backing of the Lake Macquarie City Council, the community eagerly anticipates the continuation of this cherished tradition that has stood the test of time, embodying the spirit of unity, celebration, and local pride.
